Sometimes life doesn’t go as planned. Things happen, shit hits the fan – you need to be flexible and learn to live in a moment.
I was planning to go sleep around 10pm yesterday, but instead I ended up in the bed only around 1.30am. How did that happen?? Well, pretty simple actually. I invited my brother Andrei for the dinner, that’s how!
Guess what, for the next 20 days I have all the freedom in the world while my wife and my son are enjoying the rest of the summer in Belarus!
No, we didn’t go to the strip club (yet?), we didn’t book the flight to Las Vegas and didn’t put all the money on red (would be cool!).
Instead, we went to the supermarket and bought a bit of fresh awesome high-quality food! Some wild caught salmon, nice organic greens, some figs, apple, avocados… mmm, delicious stuff! (Booorrriiinggg!? I know, I know)
Then we cooked all of that and made a fresh green salad dressed with finest extra-virgin cold pressed olive oil from Sicily. All in all, it took us about 15 min top. Just look at that pure awesomeness:
Even though my brother does not follow any dietary programs and eats pretty much everything (bad bad bad!), he appreciated the good feeling in the stomach afterward. I hope one day he will come to the same conclusions as I did not so long ago and will start meticulously filtering “food” he puts in his mouth.
All the books about nutrition, toxins, brain function that I read not so long ago pretty much say the same thing – eat quality food and stop eating processed garbage! I promise, if you follow just this one advice, you will be on the path to success. Your life will change. I started eating healthy just two weeks ago and can already feel the improvements. It’s that powerful!
While on the topic, there is a pretty cool website from the The Environmental Working Group that provides a number of really useful shopping guidelines and tips about different products that we consume every day.
I would recommend you guys to pay close attention to their Dirty Dozen List, it was truly an eye opener for me. For example, here are the top 5 dirtiest items of 2017 that you should always buy organic or avoid eating altogether:
- Strawberry
- Spinach
- Nectarines
- Apples
- Peaches
That’s right, those items are literally loaded with different chemicals and toxins that will destroy your body over time if you keep buying and eating “conventional” non-orgainc variants.
On the other hand, products like avocado, pineapple, onion, cabbage, mangoes, kiwi, asparagus are totally fine (at least for now) to buy in the non-orgainc version. See, saving money for you guys! 🙂 Just make sure to visit ewg.org periodically, there is a ton of very useful information that most people just don’t (care to?) know.
There is one slight problem with eating healthy which I uncovered so far, there just not that many places where you can buy good organic meal. My office is located near the Bryant Park, few steps from the Times Square in Manhatten and I was unpleasantly surprised to not be able to find any really good place that serves quality lunches. Things get even worse when you try to limit leptin loaded foods (Plant paradox book) and need to follow very specific diet.
I just basically go to the Whole Foods store and get the organic salad with some high-quality protein (preferably white meat or wild caught fish) and then pour a fair amount of olive oil on top of that goodness.
One important detail, most salad bars have regular olive oil (not extra-virgin cold pressed one), you don’t want that stuff. I personally keep a small bottle at my desk at work – makes the whole thing so much simpler.
If you guys know some quality food locations around Bryant Park area, please let me know.
The other day I even thought about opening my own small lunch spot serving highest quality foods for people who care about their health, brain function, and energy levels. Most likely it will not be the cheapest lunch, but not crazy expensive either. Maybe I’ll put that idea on my “visualization list” 🙂

Going back to 1.30am. Why did I go sleep so late yesterday knowing that I need to wake up 5.30am (spoiler alert – I didn’t)?
After the dinner with my brother, we discussed some business ideas like we usually do, drank some homebrew beer that we made a few month ago, watched some motivational videos from Eric Thomas (this one is good), some Connor McGregor fights (getting ready for the upcoming mega fight with Mayweather).

One of my friends booked a few seats at some theater in the Williamsburg so we can all watch this epic (I hope) boxing match on the big screen. Never done that before, should be amazing!!! That’s tomorrow August 26.
Finally we turned on my old Xbox 360 and loaded Fifa 2015. Now you understand the real reason why I went to sleep at 1.30 🙂 We were playing for the Argentina in the elimination round and Messi was scoring goals like never before. We just couldn’t stop! Well, we had to eventually, because of the pain in the wrists and fingers, but Argentina is on track to win the cup. It’s just a matter of time until we get our virtual cup (if not in the real life…)
Yep, I didn’t wake up at 5.30, not even at 6. I felt like I needed a bit longer rest and set my alarm to 7am, why kill myself right? I still was able to do my morning routine, just didn’t have time to write the update, so I had to do it while in the office. Not a big deal.
My brother woke up around 8 (he stayed over at my place, because why the hell not!) and we ate delicious breakfast with some pastured eggs and grass fed sausages from the local farm. You can literally see the excitement on his face:
Guess what, today is the poker night at 7pm in Brooklyn, big chance it will go really late… Tomorrow Mcgregor’s fight – late again? Then our awesome HBO tech team goes sailing on a boat to celebrate the end of Game of Thrones season! I have a feeling it will finish pretty late as well… So yeah.
My life is full of events as you can see! How will it affect my daily practice? I have no idea, but I sure as hell will find out and report in my journal.
If you didn’t subscribe to my email list, now is the perfect time (look for the form below this post)! There is a good chance that I will start sending email updates soon and don’t be upset if you don’t hear from me after you subscribe. It will come, just chill and learn to wait.
p.s. All my efforts finally paid off and I got my first Emmy Award, no jokes. Do not believe me? Have a look:
